Have trouble getting that coffeehouse taste at home? Learn how to get more from your bean from Wake Up Iowa's founder and roasting sensei, Jarrett Mitchell, in a setting filled with contemporary housewares and kitchen products. The Design Ranch carries fine furniture and wares from renowned designers and manufacturers. The Chemex - a beautiful and accessible coffee brewer - is one of the products Jarrett will feature.
Chat with one of our roasters at the Oakland Avenue Hy-Vee in Cedar Rapids as you sample three different roasts and beans of different origin (or stick with your old standby if you're stubborn like that). We'll be near the Health Market. Follow your nose and let the coffee aroma be your guide. See you Sunday morning!
Visit the Asbury Plaza Hy-Vee to try three of our different roasts and to chat about coffee with Joel, one of our roasters. Sampling coffees side by side is the best way to enjoy each for their distinct flavors. You'll want to bring a bag home with you, so use up all of your beans before you come :)
We'll be set up at the Iowa City Book Festival Book Fair on Saturday, October 3 from 10 AM 'til 1 PM in the Iowa City Ped Mall. Stop by between readings -- we'll be at the main desk to serve samples (for free!) of the bean on which we partnered with the City of Lit folks in celebration of Iowa City's literary nature, called "First Draft." You can take a bag home, too (not free)! Along with several authors there to discuss their books, you'll find representatives from The Iowa Review, The North American Review, The University of Iowa Center for the Book, and many more interesting voices in the Midwestern literary scene.
The City of Literature is teaming up with Wake Up Iowa Coffee to make a special, literary brew. We need your help to come up with a name for our roast. It should be something fun that salutes our community’s love for all things literary.
Post your ideas to the Book Festival Facebook page by Friday, August 21. If your idea is chosen you’ll receive a free bag of coffee!
Enjoy free samples of the new roast at Beer & Books, September 8, 5-7 p.m. at the Mill.
